Hi Folks- heres my first painting in oils since about 2005 or 6, long time. This is about a 4 hour sketch done on A4 watercolor paper without linseed oil or thinner. Didn't have them and didn't know where to get them and actually don't know how to use them.

It is primarily an exercise in mixing flesh tones and keeping values close together. i used mainly 1/4 inch thick brishes so not much modeling but some attention paid to transitions and edges. Fucked up the shadow definition in the left eye. - gotta try not to fluff that stuff.
Its done with a limited palette. Naples yellow, light red, ultramarine blue plus white and payne's grey for dark's. You would never know that I'm happier these days than I've been in years! I've been blessed with a "Fuck off" face. anyhoo, more practice to come. so nice to practice the real thing without a cntrl z option- makes you at least commit to finishing something for a change.
